Listening to the birds at the show

The club held its 2015 annual show on Saturday 07 November 2015 at St Marks Church Hall in Gravesend. This was back to its usual venue after the previous year’s double booking and last-minute transfer to an alternative setting.

Poor weather and major traffic works didn’t help the public attendance but we still saw a steady stream of both bird lovers and interested callers.

We were fortunate in having two excellent judges, Mr F Riches for canaries and British birds and Mr M Plose for Foreign, who stayed to discuss the birds with the members and soak up the atmosphere once the public doors opened.

The club would particularly like to thank the show secretary, Richard Hammond, and the show manager, Kerry Heaver, for organising and managing the day. Illness amongst members had an effect on the number of birds benched but the quality and variety were still high.

119 birds were benched – down on the average of recent years – but the club was particularly heartened by the interest shown in the club by prospective members. See below for the full list of winners.
